Sergeant Major’s Row

Client: Create NSW

Location: NSW 2000

Service: Heritage

Completion: 2019

In October 2018 and April 2020 Aurify Constructions  was awarded the contract to carry our heritage works  to the façade of the Sergeant Majors Row terraces.

Sergeant Major’s Row is of state and local heritage significance for its historic, aesthetic, and scientific cultural value.

The works involved:

  • Updating the heritage façade.

  • Scraping back existing paintwork.

  • Repairing damaged façade elements.

  • Repainting facade.

Project constraints included the location of the works, with the site was in the busy tourist area of The Rocks, with large amounts of pedestrian traffic, especially with large cruise ship arrivals.  We successfully managed all aspects of site establishment, including scaffolding and hoarding and pedestrian management.

The works were undertaken to protect the heritage building by ensuring qualified trades were engaged, with an experienced painter and scaffolder on the project.
