The Mint has been assessed as being of outstanding cultural significance to the state of NSW. As one of the oldest surviving colonial buildings in central Sydney, the Rum Hospital building provides important and rare evidence of building forms and techniques from the convict period of Sydney’s history.

Aurify Undertook the heritage refurbishment and fit-out of the following areas of The Mint; The Sovereign Room, The Boardroom, The Mint Messenger Room, Main Entrance, Café Entrance and Rear Corridor. The works consisted of heritage restoration of the main entrace painted staircase, refurbishing the stairs with a French polish, new wallpapers throughout, remediation of flooring, installation of architectural lighting, lighting control systems, internal painting, new fixed and loose custom joinery and furnishings, AV and audio installation for conferencing.

All works were successfully carried out with close consultation with the designers, architects and the SLM The Mint Conservation Management Plan to ensure the heritage aspects of the building were preserved during the project.

Aurify delivered the project to high quality, safety and environmental standards whilst maintaining open, positive and authentic communication with all stakeholders to reach practical completion on time and on budget.
