The Cooling Tower project, which commenced in mid-2019, consisted of the design and installation of structural steel in the plant room to house the new cooling towers, while maintaining the aesthetics of the building.
The existing HVAC plant room required connection to the new cooling tower plant room with a service trench.
We identified a discrepancy in the documented slab design during the demolition stage of the service trench and initiated an engineered redesign to ensure sufficient load capacity.
In order to ensure the successful transition to the system, we maintained the existing seawater exchange system in combination with the new cooling towers throughout their testing phase, to safeguard the museum’s operations against any complications in switching over.
The HVAC cooling system was switched over successfully and the seawater exchange was then decommissioned.
