George St Heritage Facade Restoration Works

Client: Create NSW

Location: George St, NSW 2000

Service: Heritage facade Restoration

Sector: heritage

Completion: 2021

Aurify commenced construction works in March 2021 to the heritage-listed police station at 132 George St, The Rocks. The scope of works includes repairs, cleaning and general conservation works to the external stonework and street facades.

The facades were encapsulated with scaffold and protection for cleaning, treated with biocide, desalinated, re-pointed where required with stone repairs and replacements. During the works it was identified that the window surrounds were rotten and damaged, also requiring repairs. Lead paint was identified and remediated.

The cleaning and repair work provided a fresh and clean appearance to the heritage building without causing damage to the stone. Aurify met all contractor quality procedures, safety, and environment management requirements, as well as Australian Standards and Building Codes. This ensured that no safety or environmental incidents occurred on-site or because of these works.
