The works involved the demolition of existing bathroom amenities within the hydrotherapy pool and took place during hospital operating hours.
We successfully contained the demolition and construction works from the operating hydrotherapy pool and rest of the hospital.
The project continued over the hospital’s Christmas shutdown period, allowing us to commence demolition of the pool tiles, surrounding concourse tiles, office and shower facilities. A new mechanical platform and plant were installed on the roof above, in conjunction with newly installed structural steel to the bathroom facilities below.
In the demolition stage of the project, we identified a cost-saving for the client through a redesign of the original scope, allowing for a give back in costs.
The hospital operates a sleep centre that conducts regular sleep tests. We successfully coordinated noisy construction activities with the client to ensure there were no disruptions to hospital operations and patient sleep.
